dude, where's my phone?

The average american now a days can not be seen without a cell phone, laptop, mp3 and so on. Don't get me wrong, because I'm also guilty as chParged, but this weekend I was really wowed by all the modern technology. Let's begin with my 13 year old daughter who has her phone attached to her fingers. Hardly uses to talk on but always texting and mobile upadating her myspace status. The one good thing is I know what the first thing is to take away from her when I need her to do somthing. "Alexie rub my feet" "no mom that's gross" "well I guess you don't want that pretty little phone of yours then". Results..........feet got rubbed. Okay maybe I never used the phone taking away in that situation but hmmm it is a thought. Well it does work well with grades and that sort of stuff. Well that is just everyday stuff I'm use to seeing along with every other parent of a teenager. What really got me is when we had went to a birthday party for my cousins 3 year old twins. There was not one moment where you didn't see one of the woman with their phone out. Like I said I am guilty also. Here you have 8 woman in the living room and 3 men with lakers game on the t.v. Well the men leave the room and leave the basketball game on. The 8 woman, 6 of them ages 21-49 and 2 of them senior citizins and also my 13 year old daughter. Everyone in the room is conversating but someone was always on there phone doing something. I didn't really pay attention to it until I did the same thing to check my facebook and at this time the 6 woman all had their phones in their palms. I couldn't help but to say "is everyone checking their facebook?" They all said yes and started to laugh. Everyone sat on there phones facebooking, texting, checking emails while still conversating for a good half hour to 45 minutes. It was then when I looked up and the two senior citezins who didn't have cell phones were stuck watching basketball. I wonder what was going through their minds watching us woman on our phones that was used least for the thing they were made for......talking. Which is also funny the next day was mother's day and we had went to visit my 89 year old grandmother. I asked my aunt if all her children had called to wish her a happy mothers day, and she repied with "they sent a text" WTH? I thought it was sort of funny but sad at the same time. While at another party everyone was on their iphones playing words with friends. It makes me think me 32. Now with all this phone and internet frenzy, I can't help but to wonder how it will be when I'm my grandmothers age. What will they come up with next...
